Hero Arts Embossing Folders and Stamps

I bought this set from Niki at Paperchain and was keen to try it out.
The first card I just used the stamp from the set and was happy with the result. Occasionally it is nice to have your stamped image fill the whole card.

The second card was stamped and then embossed using the matching folder. Also very pretty, and I must say, a set to go to when you need a card in a hurry.

My heartfelt thanks to all who popped in over the last year to check up on my creative endeavours and a special thank you to those who took the trouble to leave me a comment. I really appreciate it - it is so encouraging!

Wishing you all a wonderful 2012 and may you find lot's of time to create and enjoy doing so!

Prisma Pencils

Two firsts for me on this card was using Prisma Pencils to colour the whole image stamped onto Kraft card stock.
Having worked with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils before, I found the Prismas very 'slippery' in comparison. The Kraft card had a fair 'tooth' so it did 'grip' the colour, but the layers on the build-up was where I found it slippery. I am sure it is just a learning curve with this new colouring medium.
There is also a huge amount for work needed in the shading department. Working on it!

This card was made for Paola's birthday in December. I had to do something different as there is no way that I could even begin to fit into her league using Copic's!
Anyway, it was sent with lot's of love and I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did, putting the card together!

Modern Wedding Card

Alan flew up for a few days, mainly to attend a wedding, so we got to spend time with him whilst he was here.
I offered to make a wedding card for him to give to the happy couple. In my 'wedding box' I found this lovely modern designer paper, in black, grey, white and silver and decided to use it on the card. As it was very busy, I choose a sentiment from Justrite, Mr & Mrs, which never fails to bring a smile the the newly weds faces when they see it!
A fun card and Alan was chuffed with it and so were his friends, I hope!

Gift Box Workshop

A few of the boxes we made in the above workshop.
One thing you cannot be without when making is a score board,
be it Scor-Pal or Martha Stewart of the Crafters Companion board.
They take the stress out of scoring for folding.

Easel Card on top of a drawer box and two CD case holders

Another wrapper for a large slab of chocolate
My apologies for the bad photographs. My DH had changed the settings whilst on holiday and I did not realise it till I downloaded these photographs!

More from the Christmas Workshop

Chocolate Wrappers

Paper bag with die cuts to finish it off.
Two other items that I taught at the Christmas Workshop recently. The wrappers for the chocolates was originally from Paola. She sent me a chocolate in one of her parcels and I cased it from that one. Thanks Paola! I keep a supply of these small chocolate bars on hand - hidden away from my DH of course! - and am always able to make up a little gift in a jiffy! In fact, I keep a pile of these wrappers all ready to score and fold in a file.
The packet is super for popping in a few sweeties, or the likes for someone and ideal for children's parties as a take home gift. It also is great for using up scraps.
Both also very well received and I believe, already been well utilised by the ladies from the class!

39 Years and still counting....

16 December 1972
On this day, 39 years ago, I married my sweetheart!
Two wonderful sons later, with years of sharing and caring, we are still going strong!
12 November 2011

How blessed we are to still have each other, through all the ups and downs life has thrown at us!
May God spare us for the next 39 (gulp!) years together.

Christmas Workshop

One of the projects I taught at the Christmas Workshop was this card that you could place a gift voucher into. A card and gift all in one. It was a square card with the base of the card being longer than the actual card so that it folded over to create a flap for the lid of the  box. The square of the 'gift' box was split and attached to the card base only on the sides and the bottom and the lid was placed onto the folded flap. A band with a big bow on top finished off the gift box. It really was a great card to share and different as well!

The 'gift box' with the flap closed

The 'gift box' opened to show the gift voucher inside.
